Progressive/conservative/reactionary is a common and useful framing for leftists. This is like saying communism isn't leftist because leftism "actually" refers to a faction of liberals in the French Revolution.

Revolutionary isn't a political perspective, it's a tactic. You can be a reactionary revolutionary.
