GTA 5 (and San Andreas) are like in the Top 5 Cycling Videogames on the basis that they actually do have useable bicycles that aren't just "motorcycle but quiet". Real winning by being the only contender in the category hours on that front.

I've heard Descenders is a great freeriding game. Although your take makes me wonder if there is a game that manages to make road biking fun, either in the form of simulation or as a salient mechanic.

I mean it's as much a freeriding game as SSX is a snowboarding game. Takes some basic inspiration and aesthetic and then goes from there to build a fun game. Which it is! I'm not hating on it, my point was more that I think it's odd that if you want sort of actual bike riding (in the sense that driving in GTA is sort of like driving a car) you have GTA, then the big empty, then the arcade titles, then nothing, and somewhere off to the side is Zwift and Wahoo RGT and the sorts.

Freeriding on all the bikes in GTA5 is a great way to lose a couple hours. I love bringing a road bike all the way up the mountain then do as many flips as I can on the way down.
