They used to market entire game franchises (Fear Effect most notably) on the female protagonists having girlfriends, as male titilation. Obviously that sucks too, but somehow gamers have gone even further backwards than the male gaze of the 90s.

    R.I.P. Tomb Raider

Yes, the game that breathed life back into the series and put it on the radar again is the one that killed it.

Twitter has given way too many chuds the self-illusion of numbers.

It's Le X(tm), which is fitting because so many of them are reactionary burnouts that peaked in the Xtreme 90s.

Fucking good. Can the "gamers" FINALLY GTFO the hobby they stole from me? Don't they have some NFL to be watching? Don't they have some golf to play with their fellow WASP pigs as they talk about eating babies or the plan to frame the Jews for their next fuckup again or something?

    Unironically, NORMIES GET OUT!

the most egregious thing about new tomb raider is that they humanized the violent bourgeois sociopath who goes around the world murdering people and stealing their cultural artifacts

A funny twist on the genre, whether in game or movie form, would be an archaeologist cat burgler who goes around robbing western museums and sending valuable artifacts back to their homelands, while deliberately dressing up like Indiana Jones.

Yeah, the last game in the current trilogy at least explored the "Am I the asshole?" angle a little bit.

Ethics in Games Journalism had a golden age in the 90s when Lara Croft was presented specifically for awooga purposes while peddling beverages and freeze-gamer peripherals with double entenres about how the consumer is a horny loser for consuming the product according to the ad, and the horny losers gobbled it up, oinking all the while.

The worst thing about the Sequels was the lack of Sam.

Years ago I watched a playthrough of the 2013 Tomb Raider on NicoNicoDouga and weird Japanese chud commenters were mad because they didn't think Sam looked Japanese enough- even worse, they thought she had an "ugly Korean face"

Retvrn to Fate of Atlantis, which is actually good.

(For a very good more current archeology/history discovery game that takes a more realistic approach, I recommend Heaven's Vault)
