Cost of living in the Midwest is a lot lower than in Florida (even cities like Minneapolis, Louisville, and St Louis are less expensive than many places in rural Florida) AND wages are higher! With my degree I would be making $20/hr max in Florida, but in a small Midwest city (population <200k) I make $30/hr
