char's like the ideal guy for this. i'm not worried about him being a fascist, because we know how he deals with fascists

i'll take him over amuro, who sees the titans and decides "yeah, i'll join the group the federation creates to replace these guys. that seems smart"

0079 and Zeta Char, yes. After the ending of that show and

          spoiler

          what happens to Kamille Bidan

he kinda goes off the deep end with his beliefs, from a left-Zeon worldview to his Newtype esotericism, as well as letting his personal feud with Amuro be the main driving force of what drives him.

Amuro becoming a lib cop is a different, but equally loathsome character evolution. Seeing the evils brought upon the federation, its unwillingness of action and turning a blind eye to it and forgetting they're the reason you have PTSD.

At least the Federation collapsed eventually, even if it wasn't exactly a progressive development.

char could have been a genuinely heroic figure in char's counterattack but instead he is at best a massive fuckup who let his obsession with amuro lead him to hand the federation the victory

(i agree with basically everything you said, but i stand by my declaration of critical support)

Char, Amuro, and Lalah could have been the throuple to guide humanity into a peaceful future. But, uhhh, you know, the thing happened.

To be fair, Londo Bell was supposed to be headed up by Captain Bright. They share responsibility in it becoming this kinda ineffective boondoggle.

i'm definitely not blaming amuro alone for anything, it's just that he is in fact a cop

i mean at this point in the universal century the earth is mostly depopulated and primarily functions as a base of power and status symbol for the federation, given all the prior colony drops and the fact that the federation has been forcibly shipping the lower classes off earth for like 9 decades. plenty of innocents will die, but it's closer to nuking amerikkka than destroyong the world
