Is this what a drug addiction feels like

Once you go gec you can never listen to any other music the same. I basically exclusively listen to the gecs and gec adjacent music (KKB, Charli, SOPHIE, Hannah Diamond, etc) because my mind is broken. Feels like 100 gecs did to my music taste what the internet did to my ability to read books.

      I, too, remember my teens.

You're and my definition of gecs adjacent are very different and that's why they're popular. They're basically the same as any 2008 Myspace style scene pop band.

You're 100% right on that sound, and that's why I love them. It's a refined version of that mixed with so much more. Like how xXXi_wud_nvrstøp_ÜXXx is actually just an interpolation of Soulja Boy's Kiss Me Through the Phone.

I've been listening to the album so often at work that I've been counting how long my flaky coworker that's supposed to help me has been gone in thousands of gecs. The record so far is 2.5 thousand gecs.

It's because the people who are in the group have real training in music and aren't just a bunch of people fucking around even though it sounds like that sometimes. They just know how to scratch your brain right.

I've also been listening to a lot of Death Grips and Kero Kero Bonito, KKB is like a straight up happiness injection which helps a lot and Death Grips just has really cool sounds

To me they seem to fill the niche that Death Grips fell for when I was the age Gecs fans are now.
