Damn so frfr China built one of these things off the money from horny gamers? This is like Dengism but way more funny

I'm upset that reality isn't as funny as the headline. Mihoyo apparently donated money to a university that way doing tokamak research. They don't own and operate it.

However, whales partially funding it is still true.

However, whales partially funding it is still true.

Capitalism would have a lot more clout if billionaires and companies used their money to fund solutions to humanity's problems, instead of using their money to create problems for humanity and then offering solutions for profit.

I wonder how much of their operating costs are just the electric bill? Basically everyone is using a computer and even if you aren't doing LLMs, there's probably a dozen computers rendering something at any given time.
That and they probably have more money than they know what to do with, might as well fund something cool

For real. What is up with Western media refering to a fusion reactor as an "artificial sun" when the Chinese do it?

It sounds cool as hell, which I don't think was the intention Western media had.

It sounds extremely cool. Reminds me of how Liu Cixin describes the spaceships in the Remembrance of Earth's Past trilogy.

Doc Ock also called his reactor an artificial sun so I guess it's to invoke a negative emotion although it just makes it sound even cooler.

Yeah, got to make sure people don't start thinking a clean and powerful energy generation is a good thing. Especially when the State Department designated enemy is doing better than the US at developing it

It’s not just western media. Official chinese media call it an artificial sun too. I suppose for chinese people, it’s just a cool sensationalized headline, but for westerners it’s scary sci-fi mr. Burns shit

    Excerpt from Xi Jingping Thought:

To seize the west’s productive capacity is not enough. Once we achieve that, we will then seize the western man’s semen, then we shall use it to fuel nuclear power and usher in a new age of communism.

    Scary
