Oh I remember this guy. He made the bold choice of taking the username goat and then instead of meaning “greatest of all time” just went with… a literal goat. Which, I think everyone has to agree, you absolutely have to respect.

I wonder if someone can create or has already created a “Marxist AI” that can argue purely from like an ML stance, avoiding the bullshit centrist shit. Let the perverts debate a literal robot all day.

I was wondering why his username was so familiar! I'd completely forgotten about that idiot. I just checked out meanwhileongrad again. I get the feeling that they wanted it to be like shit liberals say or selfawarewolves. But there's just nothing there. The top posts for the month were speculation that beehaw is run by US psy-ops, a discussion of homophobia in China, and a complaint about downvotes on a post on a liberal instance. (I can't be bothered to look up what the post was)

That's the absolute best that they could come up with in the last month. Well done libs.

There's something deeply wrong with that person to collect random and mundane comments as if it's a catalogue of curiosities. I'm more amazed the instance doesn't seem to care about hosting this kind of community on their website. It's going to lead to doxxing, and they'll act like they could have never predicted it.

Funny though that they call themselves a welcoming instance and then allow this kind of crap on their server.

I don't think the person is dangerous. I think that the thought is that we're a bunch of extremists, so we must be saying as much stupid shit as the fascists, and if only we'd listen to ourselves, we'd see how wrong we are. Horseshoe theory and all that. So there surely must be piles of misinformation and bigotry lying about that they can laugh at, right? But the pickings seem to be REALLY slim if the top post of all time is some gallows humour about the feds watching us. That's clearly some narcissistic conspiracy theory shit, because it's never happened before right? yuk yuk, look at the stupid tankies.

I could be wrong though. The fact that this person reads so much of our material but still thinks its all nonsense and even messages random people for debate is indicative of an extreme degree of brainwashing.

Y’know people like to point to this and be like “oh so you guys refuse to debate? You must be afraid that your echo-chamber is not as secure as you think, I have some points that will really make you re-evaluate your stances” and yea at first glance any normal person will be like, ok let’s hear them out… now skip ahead like 3 years… those Mastur-debators were proven wrong and given book recommendations to help better define terms, better help understand key aspects of theory and class struggle/ societal structuring of class antagonisms, and history. You would think the Mastur-debators would be like “huh, I don’t actually know as much about Marxism-Leninism or Dial-Mat, etc. as much as I thought” but no! New ones pop up and ask the same questions, BEST CASE SCENARIO, they bring up a new point to be corrected. Worst case scenario: aka the most common one, they just parrot back the same talking points as the last one did, and we have to shut down debate and be like “bruh we already covered this please read this, I’m not typing out a whole 4 paragraphs, this is on you to do your research next time” and all of a sudden we’re tankies that don’t wanna debate because we’re afraid of it.

the most productive disagreements are between people who share a common foundation. the actual most likely result of sending a long effortpost in reply to someone like this is that they'll cherrypick pieces of what you said and try to paint you in the worst possible light - assuming they don't ignore everything you said and just ramble at length on whatever they feel like talking about. moreover, no one is owed your time. the fact that someone wants a debate doesn't mean you have to give it to them. this is all just basic social hygiene.

Anyone who thinks communists are in an "echo chamber" have never actually spoken to communists. I've gotten into far more actual debates and discussions about the most obscure shit in communist circles than I have anywhere else.

Some CHUD spouting the exact same "million billion dead authoritarian no ifone vuvuzela 1948" nonsense is not actually worth talking to.

We almost have a need to invent an echo chamber just to avoid all the Judean People's Front and People's Front of Judea splits. ("Almost")

What irritates me with the echo chamber accusation is that it's impossible to be in a communist echo chamber if you're an anglophone. Liberal values and tropes are so baked into every aspect of Western society that it's impossible to interact with English-speaking societies without being constantly bombarded by their horseshit and the harmful effects of it.

Communities like this one are less echo chamber and more like a sound-proofed booth to get some respite from the constant torrent of brain shitfuckery that comes with existing as an anglophone.

        It's a general-purpose instance that leans Libertarian.

Take a look at their community list. Besides the sorts of general-purpose communities that every instance has: Gaming, NonCredibleDefense (started as a shitposting spinoff of CredibleDefense, a subreddit about military discussion. Nowadays the community is basically a NATO circlejerk), AI shit, and "MeanwhileOnGrad", the community dedicated to posting our w's to get mad at.

(And after checking, it turns out the guy in the screenshot is the sole moderator of /c/MeanwhileOnGrad who makes basically all of their posts lol. Talk about living rent free)

The owner of sh.itjust.works is also a weird free-speech-absolutist Libertarian guy. He made a big stink about the community forcing him to defederate from exploding-heads, the Nazi instance, because he believed in "free speech". Users pointed out that sh.itjust.works had been defederated from Lemmygrad since it was created, and the admin confessed that that was because of "personal opinions" (that apparently did not apply to literal Nazis).

Hey, at least he did unload from the outset.

I don't see what he imagines your perspective to be when you knowingly compiled a list of theses that the majority of people in the west would strongly object to. Like, does he imagine that you imagine that anyone who reads it would simply become a Marxist? Or that almost any liberal would change their mind by sheer dint of the polemical impact of an aggregation of links? Because obviously no Marxist would believe such a thing, and we can infer from that that most of the possible audience for the document would come away with opinions that they've "found numerous flaws and sometimes falsehoods." Given that, who gives a shit what some random asshole with nothing but complaints has to say? What makes him different from the hundreds of millions of people who could summarize their reaction in just the same words? If he has any special qualification to speak on one of the subjects covered, he should have lead with that.
