There are many things that can happen before a revolutionary party sets foot in the white house and burns that shit to the ground including a fascist like Trump one day deciding worker visas are banned, or deciding all immigrants should go to a nice ICE facility for "regular checkups" if you get my drift. The ICE is no joke and I don't understand why anyone would risk their life immigrating to a country where that shit exists with no signs of being held accountable or changing. You may think white collars will be safe... tell that to the Japanese in WW2. The US has a criminal record already. Nobody knows what this shit is going to look like 10-20 years from now, but certainly not better than today.
Alternatives? Any other English speaking country is better: Canada(they have a points program), Australia, NZ, NOT UK.
Non English speaking? I would pick in this order Germany(Requirements here), China, Japan(I hear work culture is much better for foreigners on big multinational corporations).
He also said he's looking at pursuing a Masters. Which might be a dead letter in the US anyways since Trump is trying to fuck with international students' visas who are now forced to attend classes online.

Doesn't Japan import a lot of tech workers because their university system is so poor at educating them?
Honestly I don't know enough about Japan's education to comment sorry. The OP said he already had a bachelor's degree though.
