Fitness guru Richard Simmons dead at 76

Eccentric fitness guru Richard Simmons, known for his unrelenting positivity, has died, according to his representative. The Los Angeles Police Department responded to his home after a 911 call from his housekeeper and found Simmons dead, according to police sources. Simmons has been out of the public eye lately, though there were reports of a biopic being made about the fitness enthusiast earlier this year.

    Damn that sucks

    I know he was always kind of a punchline but at the same time he was openly gay in the late 80s and early 90s and I can't imagine what kind of courage that took

    I still vividly remember my parents letting me stay up late one night, and watching Simmons in a chicken costume getting chased around the stage by Letterman with a fire extinguisher. I laughed so hard.
