Reminder that at the height of the Soviet gerontocracy, the average age of the Politburo was 70. Biden is 80, Pelosi is 83, and Feinstein is 90. Biden is trying to hold on to power until he's 86.

To be fair, if we're going to talk averages, the average in the US senate is still lower than that at ~65, and life expectancies have gone up. But yeah, US leaders are similarly ancient

The average age in the Senate is massively pushed downwards by freaks like Marco Rubio and other Republicans. Pretty sure that the Senate dems on average are closer to 70 than 45.

Mean, median, and mode. Folks always forget there are three kinds of averages.

Figured it was more a question of removing the outliers rather than using the correct kind of average. Or just changing the sample size until you get the grouping that gives you the funny answer.

As has already been pointed out, the US senate average is still (a little) lower, but anyway for reference Brezhnev was 75 when he died as leader, Andropov died at 69, and Chernenko at 73

Yeah Andropov and Chernenko where not so much old as ailing. Wasn't Chernenko smoking since he was 15?
