Every single cishet male friend I've had has done this to me. Yes, even though I'm a lesbian. I have to cut them off when they start making moves and it has sucked every time, now I have zero heterosexual male friends despite my best efforts. It's almost always because they don't have any emotionally supportive platonic relationships (or not enough of them) and/or they have low self esteem.

that sucks. i think its mostly an issue amongst cishet folks due to the culture of viewing platonic relationships between genders as a thing that can only lead to sex being particularly prevalent amongst them. ive had this issue crop up with folks who couldnt see past my physical presentation, and thus decided for me that i was interested romantically, because obviously i had to be, why wouldnt i be, are they not good enough for me, etc

and honestly it wouldnt even be an issue if people could just handle rejection.

it sucks, and we all deserve more friends

men don’t know how to treat affection as anything other than sexual interest. If women are sexually or physically attracted to you, they’ll let you know, so just find the person who wants you and want them back.
