The summer Friday thing is, I'm pretty sure, office workers themselves choosing to work longer Monday-Thursday and leaving early on Friday when desirable, then management taking credit for doing it for morale reasons lol. Like it's a very very odd "perk" to remove (unless you're extremely vindictive) because it's at literally no cost, and people are probably not very productive Friday afternoons in July anyway. So much shit since covid has been vindictive management disciplining labor for absolutely no benefit.
Also, I know someone who works at a really chill NGO, and summer fridays there means every friday in the summer is off. It's so funny the "perk" is you get to leave a bit early and presumably they also make you make up the time anyway.

My company gave us this instead of WFH Fridays. Makes sense for the company too. Now you have workers staying past 2 because they have so much work assigned rather than fucking around at home (like any worker should).
WFH is infinitely better than this shit. WFH Friday would mean I could do literally nothing on Friday. Now I have to go all the way in and actually work
