I have to give some props for people for making me not excited about AI and the future.
Ten years ago, if you told me that AI could make an image just by explaining it, I'd actually find that interesting and want to know how someone was able to figure out the code for that. It's almost a shame that the few genuinely cool stuff that's done with AI is overshadowed by this garbage.
It was exciting right when it first started kind of working. It is basically a parlor trick so the novelty was enjoyable. Trans 9/11, Santa Claus Stalin, good times.
Now that it mostly "works" the parts that are missing are more pronounced. It does a lot, but only within strict confines.
It was extremely exciting when it first came out.. it blew my mind.. but then it turned into slop generation nearly immediately and never looked back
