Just looking to help our neighbors. By whatever means needed.
Raised Catholic and same. I’d still say I’m diet Catholic and have major critiques of the church. I’ve thought about trying out an episcopal church near me, but I dunno. What I do know is that Jesus would be (is?) most likely horrified by the behavior of many of his followers. Most sail straight past the stuff about being a caring person and turning that care into actions that help people and it’s just “do x,y and z so you get a McMansion in the sky someday.” And not only should you do these good things for a reward, you should do it because it’s the right thing to do.
He has his flaws, but he seems deserving of critical support. He identifies capitalism as a driving force for suffering and that global poverty must be addressed, along with climate change. Definitely not the worst Pope in recent memory, and arguably one of the better ones.
Agreed. I kind of dislike how he started to focus so much on climate change during the abuse scandal, because it just kind of ended up dividing Catholics even more and it looked like an attempt at a diversion, but it's definitely great that he's been so vocal about capitalism and ecology.
Hard agree about that. I will say, not in the defense of the Church but as a criticism against other states, countries could launch investigations and raids to get these priests locked up, but they won’t do it. He is by no means perfect, but at least he’s a religious leader condemning two crises that are existential threats to mankind.

remember, Jesus was killed by the state for rioting and damaging property.
