Kinda funny how no one in the media questioned how a clearly "regional" group that didn't have ambitions beyond Iraq/Syria/Turkey were somehow terrorists that were a threat to the United States.
ISIS was absolutely a threat to the US and was responsible for countless attacks throughout Europe. They're like the one group in recent times that essentially every country on earth unified behind saying we're bad.

The threat is still there, but it's localized as it's always been (meaning affecting the residents of Syria and Iraq far more than it will ever affect the West) so the neoliberal war machine has moved on to China, the DPRK, and Iran
