Anyway I’m an INFJ, let’s discuss

Honestly feels like being IN_P might give you better chances of understanding reality fully (and thus ending up here or some other "tanky" space).

I for being introverted, because otherwise you'd be socializing instead of figuring stuff out on the internet

N for intuitive, because otherwise you'd get your "sensing" evidence from lib propaganda rags like wapo and forbes

and P for perceiving, because you're more interested in knowing what reality is, rather than making reality something you want it to be (judging). a J person would tend to pick what they like and just start saying that's true because they like it, and then search for all the evidence to fit their worldview. (which is basically what 80% of redditors do).

I feel like the perceiving part is actually the most important part of the test. I mean the test is bogus obvs but I'm talking about the shred of legitimacy that it has left

The two biggest subreddits for personality types are r/INFP and r/INTP. Putting aside whether they're more likely to understand things, they're the most likely to be terminally online, it seems.

From both of your observations I have come up with my own hypothesis: IN_Ps are most likely to take an online quiz to find out what type they are 🤔

well, if P = yearn for knowledge, it makes sense that they are terminally online

My other INTP IRL friend is a nut though, alex jones type

But is his heart in the right place? (as cringe as that sounds) In other words, does he actually legitimately believe these conspiracy type conclusions to be factually true, and has he considered the evidence behind them (however imperfectly)?

This is different from a more emotional and dogmatic INTJ/INFJ type, who would pick the issues they identify with, and then believe the stories that support that position, without weighing any of the evidence. For instance, someone who shouts "China is responsible for the most carbon emissions" would be less likely to be an INTP, I would bet (because the statement is just so obviously incorrect that you would have to be lying or unquestioningly following the consensus, both of which are not INTP traits).

I definitely subscribe to a few conspiracy theories, and I think INTPs (Ps in general) are more prone to this. Because the P trait is fundamentally about being "open to knowledge". This can lead to some real wacky shit. If you've ever heard of people like Madam Blavatsky, those nuts are definitely _NFPs.
