People would still eat his slop if he didn't have that Nazi meltdown a while ago.
People still eat his slop despite the nazism. They don’t care, but his recent music has almost no cultural impact. Hell I remember when TLOP released and everyone and their moms had on Pablo merch. Memes about the songs were everywhere, and he basically defined the streetwear culture of the mid to late 2010s.
Donda had one of the most interesting rollouts especially during a time when the whole world was inside. But then after that, it was just laziness. Not even experimenting with anything anymore, and if he does, it’s not even released or mixed properly.
He’s washed and needs celebrity controversy to be relevant instead of making interesting music that sparks controversy.
Yeah, TLOP was a fuckin event. Donda had an interesting rollout but wasn't as big as TLOP.
Really love Donda though because I literally died listening to the album the first time so whenever I hear "Hurricane" specifically, it just reminds me that I survived that and it makes me happy
dude's music has no cultural impact but i am, for no reason, posting about it
Charli sampled Vultures on brat, the clear AOTY. maybe you can cue her in on its lack of cultural impact.
If you read YouTube comments on his album, which are unfortunately made by real people when they aren't trying to link you their OnlyFans, they're all about "separating the art from the artist" and plan to keep consuming forever.
Look at that lack of perspective in the lower left window. Whoever painted this should not be accepted into art school.
Eh, I dunno. His outputs been shit for several albums or some shit. At this point its pure artificial hype.
I'd rather listen to the biggest hip hop artist of all time making outsider art than the work of whoever your favorite artist is.
The outsider art in question:
- rapping about getting your dick sucked by 3 models over gospel choir
- complaining about jews making you horny over drill beats
- complaining about your ex wife’s boyfriend
Right, that's the tension that is interesting. That he's profoundly mad/mentally ill, and has a position of immense celebrity, and is a genius or former genius-- to see his ability or inability to express himself creatively despite his deteriorating health and his pathological need to pursue fame/infamy (a self destructive urge which he foresaw as early 808s; which figuratively/poetically resulted in the death of his mother from a botched plastic surgery, which further isolated him, and so on)
Damn I should just listen to the new eminem album the tension is interesting
There’s barely anything unconventional about his recent releases aside them being ass
uhhuh. donda 2 probably was the most creative and thought provoking pop music release, since, god, Flaming Lips released Zaireeka on four separate CDs; Kanye's most personal work, a series of unfinished sketches about the dissolution of his marriage, entreating the audience to dissolve the distinction between audience and artist, by playing and altering the tracks through his stem player, the apotheosis of his bric-a-brac, living album conceits on Pablo and then Donda.
but, yes, everyone is doing that, it's very conventional and boring.
donda 2 probably was the most creative
God the first one was bloated and shitty. The second was fuckin pointless and forgettable. Boo hoo personal work
There’s barely anything unconventional about [Scott Walker's/Jean Genet's/Alfred Wallis'/ . . .] recent releases aside them being ass
okay.
it was a facile comment, it got a facile response. but perhaps you could strain yourself and see my other reply
Outsider art
We buy diabetic test strips was better than whatever kanye vomited for last bunch of albums.
