I apologize for a bit of a delay this time around. @Othello@hexbear.net will be taking a hiatus from Hexbear to redirect focus to local organizing efforts. For the time being, I will be taking over the posting of EM POC weekly threads.

At this point I just have a vein pop up on my forehead whenever I'm casually talking about my home country for one reason or another and a yt person segues into talking about tourism. Bonus points for tourism of my country. Double bonus if they call it "cheap". Tripple bonus if they've already been there and tell me about things they've done that I could never afford to do there myself
The only redeeming part of those conversations are when they brag about how they got something for cheap when in reality they got absolutely fleeced lol
most jokerfying is when they say something like "everyone there speaks english much better than other foreign countries!"
yeah because it was a colony of the US for a long time (and unofficially still is)

I haven't heard that one thankfully, but that's probably only because I avoid christians like the plague. And that in turn is because my parents got got by some american missionaries in their youth and are still part of a weird evangelical cult to this day. Growing up in it was not fun to say the least
