This is not beneficial to Trump, the only person possibly gaining from this relationship is Musk and it's because he's less popular than Benjamin Netanyahu.
What I love about all of this is that Elon pretended to be an impartial bystander on the sidelines who was undecided. Even though he publicly feuded with the Biden administration he never explicitly endorsed Trump. And then the shooting happened and Trump's chances of winning surged so he went all in on what seemed like a sure bet. And now all of those hopes are crumbling and he's left holding the bag, much like Tesla's investors.
The irony is that Trump's popularity boost from the shooting is ultimately his undoing. I think Biden would have stayed on the ticket otherwise which favors Trump. No one expected unpopular Kamala to get such a huge boost. And with Walz as the VP it really looks like they've got it locked up.

Those Simpsons and Big Bang Theory and Star Trek Discovery and Rick and Morty mentions/appearances contributed to that, along with a general craving among otherwise secular and credulous computer touchers to have a grand nerd rapture promised to them, often branded as "the Singularity(tm)." pressed their buttons pretty effectively by tweeting about "genetically engineered catgirls for domestic use" 
and other pandering shit like that, and that doesn't even get into the "MANKIND MUST LEAVE THE CRADLE HUMANS MUST BECOME AN INTERPLANETARY SPECIES" chanting from that same crowd.
