    Ah, I misremembered. The lyric is

    But if you go carrying pictures of Chairman Mao

    You ain't going to make it with anyone anyhow

    For some reason I thought it was "Lenin or Mao." The point stands though.

      I mean, they're pretty famous for lyrics that don't make sense and for people reading too much into said lyrics. They wrote whole songs with nonsense lyrics just to troll that type of fan. I don't think you can assess their politics from a line that, even if taken literally, isn't super clear.
