this guys name is witcher george. His videos are fine, but avatars like this one where imagines himself as a witcher are so treat brained to me. Why not just a witcher medallion or something

Idk maybe im an old out of touch man.

I'm guessing for this specific example it's because they are trying to brand their content. If they're streaming their face all the time, it's good to have your face in the pfp. If they're streaming witcher all the time, well...face + witcher seems reasonable? Idk it is super normal to make an avatar of yourself in video games

Kill the concept of "cringe" in your mind. Reject the you that deems things "cringe", and be free comrade-raccoon

Yeah, I think it's just really normal now across a lot of apps even outside of games due to the "gamification" of...well, everything

    Why wouldn't they?

Isn't that the most basic kind of wish fulfillment fantasy?

I don't personally understand why someone would want to be in Grimdark Murderfuckland as established by the author, but I guess they figured they'd be on top of the pile of blood-soaked shit.

I dunno, I think I get it, projecting yourself into things you enjoy is a natural part of experiencing them. It's like, part of the exchange of reading, at least in my experience. Like, who here can say they didn't watch Lord of The Rings and imagine who they would like to be in Middle Earth. Perhaps the treatbrain theory goes too far here, chud avatars notwithstanding.

As Hexbear's official resident joyless scold, I wouldn't recommend fighting on that particular hill.

A lot of comrades are into cosplay, fursuits, and the like.

And it could always be worse, both in presentation and in sheer christofascist ideological hypocrisy:

in not trying to debase anyone who does it.

My partner is into cosplay and fandom and isn't any less of a comrade for it. Liking anime has nothing to do with their activism and volunterring.

fairly often it's fan art, not necessarily made or commissioned by themself. that shits kinda cute and i have no problem if they shout-out who made it
