The street is human scale and the power lines aren't all buried in the extremely earthquake prone ground, how awful
it is possible to work on the internet and power lines without digging up the sidewalk
And the earthquakes that happen every week or so are much less likely to damage those lines
I don't think this is true? Surely not? Tokyo has underground railway and that's fine.
I imagine those are built more robustly than a buried copper or fiber line
I'm guessing Japanese has a term for the process by which small towns and exurbs got absorbed into Tokyo, the word roughly translates to gentrify, but it doesn't quite work.
Always my first assumption when I see something very goofy written by a person who isn't speaking their native tongue lol.
I assumed it was a cracker expat because reddit but looks like you might be right
That’s ‘failed to gentrify’?
That is what a gentrified street in my city looks like lmao
Yeah. Not to be all "X, Japan", but I have to imagine the roughest neighborhood in Tokyo is still walkable, populated, accessible to transit, not a food desert, etc.
No, every street corner in Tokyo has street fights where people do pro wrestling moves, hit each other with bicycles, and roll bowling balls at each other's feet, according to the most realistic video game ever made.
every urban design NEEDS to have a gaudily dressed man with one eye to jump you from the sewer with a baseball bat

Is that supposed to look bad? It's a very clean city street, decent houses on the side, I don't see what I'm supposed to complain about?
How am I supposed to drive my Ford Childkiller through this street? There's no way it could fit!
I'm very sorry sir, I meant to say that you have a DODGE RAM 3000 CHILEDKILLER, my mistake!!!
Edit: I looked at the poster's history very briefly, it's not bait
This the poster if you wanna try figure them out: https://old.reddit.com/user/Gmellotron_mkii
Women here want to stay feminine
What he really means is:
Men want to continue treating women like shit and they are too afraid to speak up because doing so could not only get them fired/blacklisted/etc. but also make them targets of male violence.

Wow I'm not getting my eyes blasted with visual advertisements, I've never lived in a place like that
