So I'm cleaning out my girlfriend's mom's old room, and it's... a horrible mess, to put it gently.
Anyway I saw this tiny little, cylindrical thing... it looked like a clothing fiber or something. It was like a centimeter long, and less than a millimeter wide. I never would have though it was alive, until I saw a tiny, white colored head poke out and move it very very slightly. It was like... bright cyan colored, with a deeper purple, really colorful little guy. I didn't see any legs.
We put it outside, without getting a picture, and now I'm wondering what it was.
Any idea what it could've been? We're in the northern Midwest of the US if that helps.
Sounds like some kind of larvae, moth or sawfly or something.
The cylindrical thing is likely a casing, and the insect inside is maybe a grub/larvae, maybe of a species chickentendrils suggested below.
