new theory: trump needs to be on oxygen/ventilator, but he keeps defying doctors' orders to do these bs "i'm not sick" press stunts, expediting his own demise.

Dexamethasone has usually been provided to COVID-19 patients who are receiving mechanical ventilation or some other form of oxygen. https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMoa2021436

Is it possible he is getting special treatment for being the POTUS and they're using the steroid before he's dangling on the edge of the void instead of when it happens, as the protocol would mandate?

It's possible, but steroids suppress the immune system. If he doesn't need it, then it could very easily make things worse for him.

It's generally given to prevent or mitigate a cytokine storm. A cytokine storm is the way the disease does the major damage.

Right, which is when you want to suppress the immune system. Seems like a bad idea to give it to someone that's not in immediate danger of that happening.

The other comments is right. It's not exactly the virus itself that kills you, it's your immune response to it

One of the reporters teased out that he had a second SpO2 drop yesterday and now he’s being given steroids that are generally contraindicated for mild cases?

Did the doctor say “... to hospice” under his breath when they suggested he might be released tomorrow?
