I’m in the same demographic as the people in the video, been watching anime since the early 90s, I actually hated when blacks people were in anime because they were mostly racist depictions.
It’s because the first anime creators drew their inspiration from western artists who were very racist. The modern defenders of this are acting like the internet does not exist saying “Japanese people do not understand racism” why are these people acting like the Japanese are permanent babies incapable of learning anything? That’s fucking insulting to everyone.
It’s not like black people are marching to Japan and demanding the jp government to do something, no they are creating anime that does not depict black people like monkeys that’s it. I’m actually starting to enjoy anime again after years of not watching or caring about it and it feels great.
