Nephew learning english. Should we be worried?

We just found out that our nephew has been learning english....

While we wouldnt be concerned if he was learning a useful second language like Mandarin or Arabic, this odd choice of a language - especially one with so much baggage has us worried.

Any chance he is being exposed to unwanted ideologies? Why was he hiding this?
