There's a 5th edition to Shadowrun now? I'm going to have to look this up. Still have my first edition stuff on the shelf that I got back in high school. Hope you can find some good players and have fun. We always had a great time with Shadowrun, and you can incorporate future versions of the city you live in into the game.

There are 6 editions of Shadowrun (7 if you count the 20th anniversary edition), plus the lighter-weight Shadowrun Anarchy, but a lot of people didn't like 6th.

Heh, not surprising. With new editions come new rules. I just hope that somewhere along the way the combat resolution got simplified. I remember us having to roll handfulls of d6's, and it taking way too long to figure out success or failures.

I've actually converted most of the 1e and 2e adventures into 5e to mash together for this game.

This is strangely relevant to my username. Shame I can't play with y'all, I play with homie IRL on Sundays.

The setting for Shadowrun is so good, but my table found the crunch of 5e a little too much. We ended up switching to Anarchy and had a blast, even if we did have to homebrew it a bit.

Yeah I've heard good things about Anarchy but we wanted to try something with some more crunch after some dissapointment with Cyberpunk Red

You sound like you have a lot of tabletop experience, so you should be fine. I had a few folks at the table that had never played a tabletop game before and they were way overwhelmed when we did the food fight scenario even though they loved the overall experience and the setting. Anarchy helped out a lot for that.

Yeah that makes sense, I've played or GMed shadowrun multiple times over 5 years. I actually kinda hate Food Fight for the intro to Shadowrun as it is 100% a combat encounter and what makes Shadowrun unique (besides the fluff) is the ability to solve encounters in a variety of ways and use legwork/prep to your advantage.

I agree that Food Fight has its weaknesses.

And speaking of legwork, I really enjoyed Anarchy having a sort of "prep montage" mechanic that can help speed up that part of the game for the table since different build required different levels of prep.

Love shadowrun! While I can’t commit, I had a lot of fun with a dwarf decker that was addicted to Long-Haul and terrified of the bugs in Chicago. I hope it goes well! If you wanna chat about how any of the sessions go (I call it GM Aftercare) my inbox is always open!

I'd be up for it. I've never played Shadowrun before and I have a bit of experience with actual TTRPGs. I've also played a a decent number of tabletop based video games though never any of the Shadowrun ones.
