        It's a real slur. It's just so outdated few people even know of it's existence, let alone origin. I bet you could name your dog Moon Cricket and the Starbucks moms at the park would think it's "just adorable" for a name.

          pretty sure if i ever met someone whose dog was named moon cricket, i would assume it was a coincidence until proven otherwise.

          was it ever a widespread slur? i live in the southern u.s and ive never heard it before
