If you have an antenna and the other person has an antenna you're good. There are a lot of revolutionary applications for radio, ranging from tactical applications at protests, to public service pirate internet, to emergency communications, to pirate broadcasting.
I have a pi radio hidden inside the drop ceiling in the bathroom in my college dorm. It has enough range to cover the building and broadcasts revleft episodes on a loop on 100.1 FM
