It's probably my favourite episode that I suggest for non-listeners.
Ben starts with a Nazi Cowboy intro that is thankfully very short. All 4 of them are there. It has a nothing to report report about ATM theft, The Poll/Pole Report about secret spots to eat food, a great asking doctor lucy about eating a massive midnight feast at your parents in laws, and the Lancashire poo jogger.
It's a real intersection of them being both funny and weird. It won't scare them away like Theo's I'm a Train opening but also you get a feel for what you're signing up for.
Otherwise the one where Devon from KJB comes on to talk about beating children's cartoon characters with a lead pipe is another banger, especially for fans of KJB/trash future extended universe.
Lmaoo I'm gunna have to go back and find that one. I got my brother and his gf onto the pod but I don't know which they started with. I think I offhandedly recommend the theophiles one about the stump that floats in the lake, then hoped that'd be enough to bait amd switch them, but they just chose the latest ep at the time and worked backwards. Fortunately they seem to have liked it. To my other friends Ive been known to spruik the fundraiser one where everyone calls in doing their dead snakes hughsey impression. It's magical but not sure if it's the best entry point.
Also my general suggestion for new readers is to start with the first episode of a year and work forward. Because you get something about the Netherlands and Fireworks which is always funny and then they often make a lot of call-backs to previous recent episodes.
I keep calling it Boonta Vista Socialist Club when suggesting it to people despite the long form name getting 'd ages ago. If they're willing to listen to a podcast with the word "Socialist" in the title, they're probably fine with increasingly long segments like armpit farts or The Bill's theme song with gunshots
