    lolll it's so easily disproven too, its on the front page of every instance and the code is open source. I don't think we ever dipped below 1k monthly users and are now closer to 2k. And lurkers aren't counted

      they are now, there was a lemmy update sometime in the last year that added upvotes and downvotes to the active user count. unless you meant people without an account, but it also doesnt count everyone who browses through hexbear threads on other instance accounts either.
