I remember my cousin had a robot like that controlled by a guy for his bar mitzvah almost 30 years ago

The bazingas may be the stupidest nerds in the history of nerddom

"History is bunk," say computer touchers that don't know that they're bumbling into repeating history mistakes.

It always makes me think, like don’t they have to be smart in order to code, let alone work in tech?

Absolutely not. You do have to be able to code and debug in order to code, and even then, some people...

Even PhDs can say stupid things outside their expertise.

Yeah, sort of. But to fit in and thrive in the tech industry, ideological obedience and having no distracting interests or values other than "make the rich richer" are even more important.

Not as funny as when they just had a guy in a suit to represent what a humanoid robot would look like, but still good.

Wait, I just finally got around to looking up this story. Why are the robots wearing blackface? (or the closest approximation thereof possible given techno-minimalist aesthetics)

Because robot engineering requires we can see that their eyes light up red when they turn evil. You need a high contrast background.

Did you even study Asimov's laws?

I believe it's a combination of "dark robot looks more badass" and a bit of white supremacy dog whistling from "black servant serving drinks."

Yeah those. But also in the second reading, the white part of the robot is clothes and the black part is skin, and checking the robot again yields a bonus sexual pathology reading.
