They can't understand the current colonization of Palestinians started less than 100 years ago. They can't understand that Jews and Muslims lived in the region for something like 1200 years together during various reigns and weren't some eternal enemies fighting holy wars 24/7. They can't fathom that the British and American Empires instigated this whole conflict, and that it's driven not by ancient grudges, but rather current oppression happening right now to real living people.
