This is it guys the chance to save democracy and finally have the chance to vote for not genocide. I've been told it is not the time to not vote for Holocaust Harris because lesser evil. Until we have ranked choice we simply must have genocide. Finally we can solve it!!!

Anyway the local Democratic party recommends voting no on this measure. Oh well.

We have preferential voting in Australia and our election results are still awful. Turns out when your polity is a bunch of racist settler idiots with false consciousness, the method by which they select candidates is irrelevant.

Ya totally. Ranked choice voting will certainly not solve our problems. I do think it's hilarious that Dems always tout it as a solution/reason we must vote a certain way this year but when it is an option they back up real fast.

When I was a progressive lib type I had been convinced that multi-member electorates were the answer to our problems lol.

“See, the greens get 10% of the vote nationally but only 1 seat in parliament, if we had proportional representation in each seat it would be much more fair!”

We were all young once lol... I used to describe myself as socially progressive and fiscally conservative. Couldn't admit that didn't make a fuckin bit of sense.

No we be on that ML train.

Additionally it will allow big money into politics because of reasons and weaken political parties!!!!!

Something that definitely never happens and something that definitely shouldn't.

I usually see the criticism that it'll strengthen political parties because you'll be less able to vote for specific candidates. These people then admit that they don't care about anything other than which party the candidates belong to if pressed.

Ya it's a bit wacky. They really just seem to be making shit up and hoping that will confuse the voters. You wouldn't want to weaken the Democratic party at a time like this would you???? That's basically trumpism.

Translation: "You poors are too STUPID to know how to vote!"

Voters can barely comprehend that they need to check the box with (D) next to it. You think they can understand who they are supposed to vote for if we make it so complicated???

This happened in canada too. The liberals said if elected they would reform the electoral system to be like MMP. Then they got elected and just didn't do it lol
