Having shitty takes (some of which are pretty valid if you've been doing this long enough to get jaded) does not mean there are no useful ideas. If we took that to its natural conclusion we wouldn't be able to read any of the "racism was normal at the time" writers that everyone insists must be read. Reading critically means engaging with material while also recognizing its shortcomings and the biases of the author.
