Liberal voters largely believe that society has innately capitalist and socialist elements:
Capitalism is big business, entrepreneurs, lobbyists, Wall Street, billionaires etc - 'good at making money'
Socialism is hospitals, schools, roads, welfare, the environment etc - 'good at spending money'Thus, when a member of one camp, say, Goldman Sachs, says something positive about their candidate and they accept it, they're appealing to some concept of "well, there you have it folks - we might disagree with those pennypinchers on many things, but at least they recognise how economically sensible we are - and they would know!"
Yes, the last thing they want is to have another supermajority to prove that they actually stand for nothing.
The last time the Dems had a supermajority the bank stole my family's house, my mom died from a lack of health insurance and the banks were bailed out with trillions of dollars no strings attached. I subsequently spent years after as a drug addict with no will to live :)
I know it doesn't mean much in light of all that but love and solidarity, comrade.
I appreciate it, I've moved on even if there will always be something missing. The shattering of the Amerikkkan dream was what turned me into a Communist after all.
It doesn't matter as long as the fundraising dollars keep flowing.
