Liberal voters largely believe that society has innately capitalist and socialist elements:
Capitalism is big business, entrepreneurs, lobbyists, Wall Street, billionaires etc - 'good at making money'
Socialism is hospitals, schools, roads, welfare, the environment etc - 'good at spending money'
Thus, when a member of one camp, say, Goldman Sachs, says something positive about their candidate and they accept it, they're appealing to some concept of "well, there you have it folks - we might disagree with those pennypinchers on many things, but at least they recognise how economically sensible we are - and they would know!"
