So I drove up to a popular hiking trail for a hike today. There was a sign on the trail in saying there was no parking in the lot and to park on the highway. I saw probably a dozen other cars parked on the highway (technically a highway, but it was really a 2 lane offshoot of the actual freeway. Like those streets you see in the country when you're approaching a small town? That kind of highway) so I assumed there was no issue, and what could be the worst that happened since there were so many other cars.
When I got back from the hike I saw a police car in front of mine, and there was a ticket on the windshield wiper, for parking illegally. Of course I walked up and asked why I got the ticket, he said no parking. I said there's a dozen people here, how was I supposed to know I couldn't park here? And he said "There's just no parking, you can't park here". So I said that the sign said it was ok to park, and with all those cars in the (suprisingly wide) breakdown lane I assumed it was ok, and would you really be ticketing them all? And he said "Yup".
So as I sat in my car reading the ticket (25$, not enough to bother too much about) I watched the cop write the next ticket in his car, DRIVE 5 METERS FOWARD TO GET IN FRONT OF THE NEXT CAR, then put the ticket on the windshield! This lazy SOB literally could not walk 5 meters, he just had to drive the car in front of the one ahead of me to place the next ticket. Then, HE DROVE, MADE A U-TURN, AND PARKED ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE ROAD TO ADD THE TICKET TO THE NEXT CAR! HE literally could not just cross the street and had to take the time to drive 100 meters to do a fucking U-turn! As I was driving away I saw him driving in front of the next car to add a ticket as well!
Anyway, just thought I'd vent. I don't understand how anyone can be motivated enough to write parking tickets for a dozen cars but be too lazy to just park their car and walk with the tickets to each of them. Stupidest cop, I swear
I got pulled over on my bike for making a left from the turning lane. It was suspicious that I was obeying the law. I had a traffic warrant so I went to jail and lost my job. When I was being transported from jail to court they laughed that I was going for a ride and would be released lol no bigs.
All cops, and I can't stress this enough, are bastards, but that's a whole new level of being a piece of shit there. Have you managed to get money coming back in ?
Yes, but I get laughed out of interviews dealing with my field. I work at a library (which I love) but I'm broke as fuck.
they always swear there's no such thing as a ticket quota and then do dumb shit like this. love 2 protect & serve
Well you gotta look at it from his perspecive: you were dangerously parking... your car... to go on a walk...
I think I got a ticket from the same cop. I managed to get a photograph of them.
I just mailed in a written response to a $50 ticket I got for an expired registration. I'm new to the state and it's literally impossible to schedule an appointment to get a license and register your vehicle. I spent like 2 hours writing a very lengthy and detailed letter full of screenshots and supporting evidence.
I fully expect to still get slammed with the fine, and I believe it would be higher now than if I just paid it like a good slave.
Thankfully it's not a cop reading it in my understanding. It's probably some clerk at the municipal court. Maybe a judge but I doubt it. I can only hope they want to give me a break and saw my effort put into it. Or maybe they'll think "fuck this guy" because I blamed the DMV. Guess we'll find out
