I'm assuming this is a subtweet of the previous thread complaining about Chapos being libs.
Look, they obviously skirt the line between "take us seriously" and "stop taking us seriously." When presidential candidates come on your show, you're attempting to be serious. When you have all these journalists and activists on your show, it's an attempt at being serious. If Dan Rather told jokes in between covering Vietnam it doesn't mean he's a comedian who shouldn't be taken seriously. And it's not even the hosts themselves who are trying to skate this line so hard as the people defending them. Someone calls them libs and we get this kind of thread saying we're all idiots for taking them seriously. Will started crying on stage in Nevada while doing massive drives for Bernie. Tell me that's not someone who doesn't take their position seriously.
Yes, after Bernie they're 100% trying to distance themselves from being thought leaders. I agree with that. But let's not pretend they're just some wacky comedy troupe when at least 2/3 of them have written pretty serious shit on politics. Plus there's a death of the author aspect too. It doesn't matter if they don't intend to be serious. If everyone takes them seriously, then that's the reality they have to work in.
they were important to moving me alomg the pipeline especially seriously “vegetables eps”.they arent revolutionary warriors or anything but they serve their purpose and I can enjoy them as someone non serious despite me being further along the pipe.
They are thought leaders. Turns out " bad thing bad" just isn't that complicated.
They did try for it. If the bernie thing hadn't hit an unprecedented level of corruption we'd be talking about them entirely differently. I think that kinda took the wind out of their sails. They are just now sfarting to recover it seems to me. I think cushman at least has one more good go in hin.

You're describing the electoralism that was mentioned in the OP.
