put all of your election posting here so it doesn't bother anyone else!
from @CoolerOpposide@hexbear.net:
For Agitprop purposes, I’m asking comrades to help aggregate any and all effortpost responses, critiques, or general thoughts that you have seen or written pertaining to yesterday’s U.S. election that you think have standalone value for discussion either online or IRL.
I made a post for that purpose here, and ideally it can be used not only for general discussion, but as a reference for well thought out responses in discussions about the election to save all of us some brainpower.
No shitposts please, as we’d like to highlight some comrades’ actual effort in constructing responses or analysis, but humor is 100% welcome to help make your point!
In my opinion, their were two issues with the Selzer poll. Firstly, RFK JR was an option on it even though he pulled out, so that diluted Trump's share of the vote. If you added up RFK JR and Trump's share of the votes, they beat Harris, even in this poll. Secondly, it overrepresented women whose primary issue in this election was abortion. As the CNN exit polling has showed, abortion didn't even make the top 3 issues for Democrats!
And that was one of the big reasons people claimed Democrats would win on: abortion
I think voters understand that by now it's a state issue given the supreme court decision, the Democrats are never going to do anything actually meaningful to fight it on a national level or codify Roe vs Wade, they just plan to use it as a campaign issue. Given that, it's understandable why abortion didn't rank highly as an issue in a presidential election, and why abortion policy has more of an influence on state and midterm elections.
Depressingly, foreign policy was the least important issue for both Democrats and Republicans....
