All he did was honk his horn at a car that wasn't moving getting onto the highway. I guess the guy followed him and it got physical. He's okay and the guy was arrested but do not honk your horn or engage with other people on the road for real.
Okay so seriously this is something to worry about; I met a guy in university who was the salt of the earth, also very collected and always dressed neat and looking like he's ready for a business meeting at any time (guy came to university dressed in a business suit; although he was in his thirties, so he probably had a job anyway and that might be the reason); he disappeared for a while and then when he came back he was just dressed like an average university student and you got the sense that this man was dead inside. I found out from him that he was stuck behind someone in traffic back a while ago and honked for the guy to move. The guy came out and beat him near to death, causing him to bleed internally and requiring immediate surgery; the surgeon botched the surgery and damaged his colon (or maybe it was already damaged from the attack?) and he needed a second surgery; the poor guy now unfortunately needs a colostomy bag.
No one deserves to have something happen to them like this, but folks please be careful out there; some folks are just some of the worst humans and could ruin your life for nothing.
I dunno I honk at someone and they come out swinging I'm running them over simple as
Do you honk "at" (note that the horn bothers everyone within earshot) cars that aren't moving?
no I honk when someone is driving way slower than necessary based on conditions or if their hazards are on or something, and people who are being dangerous or seem not to be paying attention
and cybertrucks when on the highway
pointless scolding
coffee delivered via grubhub?!?!
that has to be like what nine dollars? only a few times of this and you could have a coffee making apparatus at home and a bag of beans
I know but I literally ran out of coffee and I don't have a car atm, I did buy a bag so I'm set for a bit.
Summoning coffee slaves with a bourgeois phone app is "bad vibes"
drivers are psychopaths at war with humanity
Death to America
lol I get a long ass honk and a finger all the time for routinely going the speed limit where everyone has decided it doesn’t matter if they break it
Death to driving culture
Nah fuck that guy, just carry weapons. Assholes driving selfishly need to be uncomfortable
sometimes you have to honk your horn to avoid an accident I'd say that's still worth it
If someone’s not moving, I give the horn a very light, brief tap, with the idea that it will come across more like a cordial reminder. “Hey by the way the light turned green.” I don’t know if it comes across that way to others, but when people do it to me that’s how I interpret it.
I have never had cause to use a horn, and every use of a horn I have experienced has made the situation less safe. Unless you are literally a runaway vehicle, what the fuck are you communicating with your horn other than "you know what would make this situation safer? A CONTENTLESS DISTRACTION!"
Never honking unless there is a clear and present danger to someone's life or someone is gonna hit something is probably the best way to live your life without dying. So many people in cars are one negative interaction away from being willing to kill someone in
I'm sure this does not apply to all countries even remotely, people probably honk all the time in other places without people going berserk, a unique Yankee carbrain sickness.
You need to be profoundly alienated to be in a state of mind where you're willing to lose it all over going from point A to B.
I've said this before, but especially in the South, Americans only have one honk. The honk they use for when someone in front of them is on their phone and didn't see the green is the same one as when someone is about to hit them. I grew up in the Northeast, and their is a whole honking language of different honks for different scenarios.
I drive delivery sometimes and I do my best to avoid anytime between the 4-6 rush hour. People are nuts during rush hour and it’s so stressful.
Horns should be used to convey one short message: “pay attention”.
That’s it. Not “you were wrong” or “i hate you” or “i’m frustrated” or “i want you to move”. All those do are confuse, frustrate, and anger other drivers. I know better but I am still guilty of doing it on rare occasions, usually when someone has just used their vehicle as a weapon and tried to hit me or threaten me.
