First off, my last semester of college is this spring, so after that I'm officially going into the workforce. I haven't been able to find a job the last year an internships in my major (biology) have also been hard to come by, which makes it harder to find a job right after school. I do have some field work experience from a class I'm taking right now and I'll gain more from the research project I'm doing with a professor next semester. But even so I'm not doing the best financially right now and I'm scared that's how I'll reside.

Also with the results of the current election. I know that we were fucked if Kamala won but like with Trump whatever way he's planning to fuck all of us over will happen faster and since it looks like most of the American people wanted a candidate who would let them pretend like that wouldn't be the case, it's obvious that we're not prepared for whatever comes, which is what scares me more. I'm trying not to be a doomer but it's hard.

I got that degree. I ended up not finding work in my field, going into a pretty dirty job, and eventually impressed someone who was shocked to find out I had a degree and got hired. I then did scientific consulting for years, occasionally using my specific degree but I spent a lot of time learning chemistry, construction, geology, field management, and any number of other skills. When I fully outgrew that line of work I was again fortunate to get a government job where I happen to use all the skills I've built along the way. The point is that it was very much not a straight line and only through continual learning and self improvement did I finally end up in a very good place. Keep swinging.

Don’t worry I’m sure runaway global fascism won’t have that much time to ramp up before climate change essentially ends human civilisation. The mad max times will be relatively liberating.

Tbf in the time between the death of the penultimate human and the last living human before we go extinct, technically global communism will have been achieved. This is what we mean when we say communism is inevitable.
