You can choose not to but know that your influence on the future of humanity will be nothing, you will be forgotten and your entire life will be essentially just you sponging off resources from the world without putting anything back into it (unless like, you make a habit of helping people or some shit)

Labor has to have a goal m8, otherwise it's just you keeping your ribs from meeting your spine. Granted, meaningful labor is hard to come by these days but even trivial and meaningless labor is going to something good if you are using it to ensure the next generation of man has a shot at living a better life than you

My one hang up with having kids is the climate apocalypse. Like how do you feel okay putting a life into the world knowing that it will suffer some of the worst environments in human history?

I guess I see it differently because I take the view that none of us chose to be born, so life is a situation foisted upon us that we have to make the best out of, rather than a neutral opportunity. I see the argument that one’s choice (keyword) to not have a child due to material conditions as valid mostly due to working in abortion. I suppose I just extend the argument beyond personal finances into the climate

People had kids in the middle ages when plague ran rampant and it looked to be the fall of everything. People had kids during the great depression and WWII when it looked like Industrial society was falling into a inescapable pit of darkness and horror

Your descendents probably won't know where their politics and religion come from, but they're more likely to share the same beliefs as you do than the descendents of perfect strangers.
