There was a storm that made it melt faster. But it recovered mid-September like the rest. 2020, it's November and not recovering.
It’s also thought that the storm stacked ice on top of itself, giving the appearance of less ice. The state of multi year ice is worse now, so 2020 is probably the worst year for the Arctic so far.
