Orcas off the coast of Mexico have devised a cunning strategy to hunt and kill whale sharks, and marine scientists have documented the behavior for the first time.

tl;dr The pods of orcas attack young whale sharks because they are a lot smaller. The pod ram into the shark, flip it upside-down so the shark goes into a state of tonic immobility, and then they attack its abdomen.
