its amazing how people come up with worlds in their heads

its a true beauty that language has evolved to be able to communicate entire complexities that represent what is years of thinking

i know people dont like it in books because often the story falls flat

one of the first prominent worldbuilders is Tolkein and his impact is synonymous with fantasy

compare with C. S. Lewis who also was one but his method involved story first and then a world justifying it

i think without capitalism and copyright laws we will see a lot of collaborative works that build a world in fiction

think of franchise owned "extended universes" or roleplaying game worlds

you see this emerging online a bit with online roleplaying fiction and open universes like the SCP Foundation

u mean the potatoes that multiply and consume the world, which battle against the cake that multiplies and consumes the world?

Yep, cosmic horror but they actually went on with the "fear of the unknown" instead of just endless jerking around with tentacles because that's what lovecraft do.

People acts that cosmic horror must be about crazy super gods when spooky peanut boi do. I mean SCP still have lots of crazy super gods, but the best stuff are the unexplainable inanity.

        for sure.

plus loads of cthulhu mythos stories by any number of authors really dont involve the whole "its an eldritch being from beyond the stars!" aspect if it anyways, instead relying on the other being ill defined to in itself be spoopy

scp is such good horror probably because of its collaborative nature. there is so much depth to the world that it becomes a horrifying place, knowing that there are unexplainable and dangerous things hidden everywhere not even new world order has a chance to scratch the surface. no one individual could create a universe so large.
