My dad is a passive aggressive narcissist who doesn't believe in modern medicine, constantly draws attention to himself like a petulant child who needs constant attention (this includes chanting to himself while I'm on work calls), and has tried multiple times to start his own cult. He has stage 4 cancer because he refused treatment and has been living with me for a year because he's too sick to be on his own but not sick enough to go into hospice care.
I literally wish for him to die on a daily basis.
This isn't me trying to one up you. I'm just letting you know, I know what it's like to have a mentally and emotionally unstable parent. If you ever want to vent to someone who understands, feel free to PM. Some days I could go on for hours about how much I resent my dad.
I know this is less than ideal to think about, but I wish when I was your age I had some sort of risk-mitigation plan in place for my father. You do not want your psycho dad living with you in your 40s.
I used to think that way. You might have to tell him to kick rocks when the time comes. By the way, there's nothing wrong with that but I didn't have the heart to do that to my dad, and just let him die on the streets.

Granted, I kind of regret that decision now.
