Ahh dassies. Some cool facts (at least I think they're facts, I got told this as a child so I could be wrong):

• Their closest living relative is the elephant.
• They struggle with regulating their body temperature, you can see them sunbathing on rocks and cliffsides at times, even cuddling together if it's really cold.
• They fall prey to eagles quite often, in fact the Verreaux's Eagle has evolved specifically to hunt dassies, and it is very proficient at this.

If you've ever felt like the black sheep of the family, just remember that the hyrax is cousin to the manatee and the elephant.
