Marcos was basically a PR campaign for the zapatistas so that's why he's got the coolest persona and most benign rhetoric. The PR campaign was successful but it wasn't translating into much material success for the zapatistas so they canceled it. IIRC Marcos was a Jesuit priest who volunteered for the role.
I wish I could get it here at a reasonable price, or without going through a few layers of middlemen skimming profit off the top. It's really good coffee.
I didn't know that he was no longer a subcommandante; my knowledge of what's been happening in the last decade or so in Chiapas is clearly out of date, so I'm glad you shared this.
